Jaymes Jay Sherry-Alves has over 13 years of extensive experience in adult education, specializing in teaching English as a Foreign Language (EFL), English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), and Modern Foreign Languages (MFL - Italian).

Jay started his teaching career at Westminster Kingsway College, in London, United Kingdom in 2003, where he was employed as Lecturer of Foundation Learning within the Department of Adult Pathways and Employability until July 2014. He also served in the Department of Student Support Services as Interim Disability Support Coordinator in 2007-2008, managing provision for students with disabilities, learning difficulties, and special needs. Before coming to PBLI in January 2015, Jay was a visiting adjunct professor of ESOL and Teacher Training for one semester at the Federal University of Vicosa in Brazil.

Jay has also taught courses in Business English, study skills, writing skills, and adult literacy courses. Moreover, Jay has been employed by the University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate as an ESOL examiner since 2010.

Jay has a University of Cambridge Certificate in Foreign Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA), Westminster Kingsway College (2002), and has a Diploma of Travel and Tourism, London City College (2001). He is native American English speaker and is also bilingual in Italian.

Kathleen Kathleen has been teaching ESL classes for several years Palm Beach Language Institute. She is experienced with large classes as well as one to one tutoring. Her students range from elementary school to mature adults and from true beginners to advanced learners. She is adept at creating IEPs (Individual Education Plans) as well as following a structured curriculum. Kathleen holds undergraduate degrees in English and History from Upsala College (New Jersey), an accounting degree from Benjamin Franklin School of Accountancy (Washington, D.C.), and has completed post graduate classes in Gifted Education from the University of Virginia.

Kathleen's previous career in Washington, D.C. as an accountant and business manager provides a unique and practical approach to teaching Executive Business English as well as professional and technical writing.

Michael's first graduate degree is in Adult Education from the University of South Florida. He also holds a certificate in teaching English as a foreign language. As an adult educator, Michael has taught English to adults from several countries. He has also taught a citizenship class to second language learners. Michael enjoys teaching, and loves to utilize humor and creativity in his lesson plans. He also enjoys learning from new cultures and finding creative ways to engage with the adult learner.

Antonia Antonia started her teaching career when she was accepted into a rigorous program in Busan, South Korea where she taught general English to fifty Korean students as an English as a Foreign Language (EFL) instructor. After completing her year contract, she returned home to West Palm Beach where she was born and raised. Nina is highly skilled in EFL and English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) due to her acquiring the 120 Hours Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) certificate and having hands-on, professional experience since 2014.

Antonia graduated from Florida Atlantic University (FAU) in 2012 receiving her Bachelor of Arts degree with honors in Anthropology. Learning about different cultures and customs at FAU, she sees herself working only with people of different backgrounds. She always enjoys having new cultures come into her class and is constantly looking for new ways to create engaging and current lessons.

Melissa Bellovin Melissa got her start teaching English in Mexico City in the mid-90's freelancing for companies such as AT&T and the Instituto Cultural Norteamericano. She went on to get the Cambridge CELTA in New York in addition to her degrees in anthropology and creative writing. For three years in multicultural Los Angeles (and a stint in San Francisco) she taught students from around the world ranging from actors to executives to Japanese middle managers. She also taught general and business English at various British Council schools in London. Languages studied & level of proficiency: Spanish - Advanced; Russian- Beginner

Melissa has BA from The University of Chicago and MFA in Creative Writing from The University of Texas at El Paso. CELTA certified.

NAFSA: Association of International Educators NAFSA is the leading professional association dedicated to international education. NAFSA's members number nearly 10,000 individuals from all 50 states and over 150 countries.
